Abstract:

The Finkel review and the National Energy Guarantee have set Australia on a Nuclear Power free path. Recent growth in generation capacity has been dominated by large investments in Wind and Solar PV renewables. The modern electricity environment has resulted in uncompetitive electricity prices and shortages of despatchable capacity in peak summer periods. This presentation will explore how and why the Australian electricity industry has become uncompetitive and what Nuclear and other Non-Nuclear generation options are available to restore the Australian electricity industry to internationally competitiveness.
