The ANA is pleased to note the formation of the Australian Nuclear Association Queensland Inc. which is an initiative of a group of people in Queensland interested in promoting the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology in that state. The ANA has entered into a memorandum of Understanding with ANAQ to ensure full cooperation in all activities. The AGM will be held on Thursday 28 August in the AINSE Theatre at Lucas Heights commencing 12:30 pm. Nominations for the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and three Committee Members should be sent to the Secretary before 1 July at PO Box 85, Peakhurst NSW 2210, preferably on the attached form. The AGM will be followed by a talk on Small and Medium Reactors by Dr Clarence Hardy at 1:00 pm.

Members are invited to submit nominations for the ANA Annual Award to the Secretary (PO Box 85 Peakhurst NSW 2210) by 17 July 2008. The award is made to the person from the list of nominees, who, in the view of the Committee and its distinguished adviser, has made the most outstanding contribution to advances in or promotion of the peaceful aspects of nuclear, science and technology as well as related educational activities.
Members of the ANA and the Nuclear Engineering Panel of Engineers Australia wish to express our sincere appreciation to Dr Ian Smith on the occasion of his retirement as Chief Executive of ANSTO. Dr Smith was always very supportive of our conferences and other activities and addressed our meetings on a number of occasions. All members wish him well for the future.
